Palm trees melt btw, they are just fibrous strands and the palm fronds at the top were in flames. When we got to my house, a fire truck was there, my front yard palm tree was on fire and every kid on the block was watching. We left immediately and went home as she lived a few houses from me. I said to the other mom, thank god the lightning didn’t hit the pool and our children are safe. Suddenly, out of nowhere came the loudest sound I ever heard! Crash/Bang! (And there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.) The HOA pool attendant ( not a lifeguard but the one who checks you actually live in our neighborhood to use the pool) whistled for everyone to immediately exit the pool. We sat on the lounge chairs while our kids swam. In 2011, I took my kids with another mom and her kid to our neighborhood HOA community pool on a 105 degree day. ![]() Lightning strike here! Several years ago we moved to Temecula.
